How do i preserve roses without pressing them?
my grandmother recently passed away and i have a little over a dozen roses from her casket. i really would like to preserve them but i don’t want to press them. They’re beautiful roses, pink and white =], but i dont know how to go about preserving them. i’ve heard of the glicerine but i dont know where to find it and also i heard of hanging them upside down in a dark room also. does this work? Please help me! i want to make sure these are preserved before they die.

My condolences, sorry for your loss.
Hang them upside down, don’t know that dark matters but my best friend was killed last fall and I saved some of his flowers with wire hung upside down, they dry out very nice, they are stiff, but full. You could do something with them later (after fully dry) if you so choose.

if they are not upside down they will wilt.

Yes….hang them upside down for quite awhile until they are completely dry and then just put them in a vase.

After the hanging upside down, spray the hell out of them with hair spray! This way they will not fall apart or brake.
i think you have the right idea with hanging them upside down. i did the same thing when my grandma passed and we preserved every flower possible, but it’s been a long time….i know you can get a preservative from the craft store such as “Michaels”. give them a call. they can help you with the process.
I’ve had good luck hanging them upside down to dry. Stay in good shape for some time. I use wire to wrap around the stems and hang them, where they don’t touch each other. Any dry place will do, I’ve dried them inside the house and in the garage.
I used the borax method when preserving my bouquet from my cousins wedding- this site tells you how to do it, and other methods of preservation too. It’s nice you want to do this!
