Got roses as a gift and was wondering what is the best way to preserve them. Just putting them in water doesn’t keep them alive long. Is there anything that can be put in the water? or something else that can be done?

If they are already cut the best you can do is keep them in a vase where not much sunlight will reach them but you can still enjoy there beauty
A little bit of sugar in the water can help them last better. You can also go to a florist or even just the flower area in a large grocery store and they sell little packets of stuff that you can add to the water. Keeping them in a cool area in the house will help them too. This time of year you don’t have to worry about being next to a heater vent, but you might not want to set them in a brightly sunny window since they’ll get hot there.
well… yu can dry them if yu want 2
tie a string on the stem nd hang it up upside down until yu think its dry enuf
1. Put some clean rocks, pebbles, or glass balls in the bottom of a vase and fill half full with warm water, 1/4 tsp. of bleach, and 1/2 tsp. of sugar.
2. With a very sharp knife or blade (not scissors, they crush the water ways) slice off about 1/2 inch at the bottom of the stem; it is best to do this under water, but if done quickly, not a problem.Daily slice about 1/4″ at a sharp angle off the bottom of the stems.
3. Replace at least half of water with warm water if they wilt a little, as warm water will move up the stems to the blooms quickly. Refresh water daily if possible. With wilting, slice 3/4-1″ off bottom of stem, or more if needed.
4. Gently pinch off outer leaves of bloom to keep the bloom looking neat and fresh.
5. Keep in a cool, darker place if at all possible. Vase and flowers can be refrigerated at night and given a refresh of warm water in the morning.
